Top 10 Health Benefits of Young Living Essential oils

Essential oils are fabulous for pain relief..... I have always suffered sciatica ever since I could remember and as a result have tried all different therapies (acupuncture, shiatsu, osteopathy, chiro, swedish massage, kinesiology and even thai massage.... they all felt amazing but it quickly came back within a few weeks. Recently I was given an iridology reading and the health professional found that I had evidence of possible leaky gut syndrome and digestive disorders, well yes, i have no trouble going lets just say :) Sooo, I have been doing lots of nutritional medicine reading... oils and wholesome foods.

Essential oils are soothing and effective for digestion when rubbed onto the abdominal area. Small amounts taken internally ***for example using a vegetable cap, in glass of water or on a tea spoon of raw organic honey (my favourite is from the Redcliffe markets, a stall called Organic, check it out on a sunday morning if you are in Redcliffe, seriously stunning place..... you can't beat the ocean.)

Provide relief for heartburn, indigestion, nausea, gas, irritable bowel disease and diarrhea.

How to use: Perfect rubbed on belly, thighs or vita-flex points on feet.

What I use:
Peppermint, ginger, fennel, clary sage or Di Gize essential oil blend


6. Enhance Circulatory System

Essential oils are known as the blood of the plant, chi or live force.
They work in a similar way in our bodies, carrying oxygen and nutrients to every cell within the body. A healthy vascular system is free of clots, arteriosclerosis and broken veins.

Essential oils promote a healthy circulatory system.

How to use: It feels invigorating and awakening after I splash a few oils on my body after a shower, not only do i smell devine :), however, there are health benefits from my 'body moisturiser/lotion' too. 5 to 10 splashes of oil on the palm of your hand then rubbed on feet, thigh, legs, butt or belly. Follow this by adding 5 to 10 splashes of V6 blend (made from pure oganic synthetic free oils of coconut, sesame, grape, sweet almond, olive, wheatgerm and sunflower)

What is great to use:
Cypress (known as the oil of life), myrtle, grapefruit, lemon, basil and Ylang Ylang.

7. Soothe burns, sunburn, minor cuts and scrapes

I have had a direct personal experience with burns. My 2 year old at the time placed her entire hand on top of a pipping hot stove top. I used a few drops of lavender oil every 2 hours for 3 days. Had the blisters cut open at the Royal Childrens hostpital under pressure and afterwards pure pink fresh skin grew back without skin grafting which was disgust before cutting the blisters!

Essential oils are very antiseptic and cleansing to minor cuts and scrapes, increase effectiveness with aloe vera straight from your garden....

How to use: Apply neat to burn, cuts or scrapes

Recommended:
Lavender, Helicrysum, tea tree, Purification blend, rose, marjoram or laverderm spray (containing aloe vera)



8. Improve Overall Body Movement

Muscles make up approximately 50 percent of our body weight. Our skeleton consists of around 206 bones. This framework provies movement and protects our vital organs. When over worked, emotionally exhausted or stressed our system becomes stiff and painful. Essential oils applied to the affected area offer strong muscular and skeletal support.

How to use: Apply neat or diluted with V6 to certain areas in need of nurture.

Recommended:
Peppermint, wintergreen, Rosemary, PanAway, Valor and Aroma Siez blends.

9. Improved Memory and Mental Clarity

There is a variety of oils that help our mind, memory and clarity.

10. Help Support Optimal Weight

We all want to feel fabulous right?? 

I put on about 20 kg with both daughter's while pregnant and don't get me wrong I loved every bit of indulging in extra ice cream, lollies and donuts..... (now I cant even look at a donut) and I eat healthier and feed my body energy rather than processed crap. Mostly plant based however the occasional steal off my husbands plate..... fish, chicken, haloumi or greek yogurt. I have tasted a few coconut ice creams and I must say seek them out as they are delicious and nutritious brilliant concoxian.

How to use: I had great success when I stopped eating so much meat, (still not 100 percent thanks to my mothers sausage rolls) I stopped drinking dairy milk, yellow cheese and ice cream and also totally stopped having white and all other processed sugar including raw... I now use either maple syrup, organic agave or raw honey..... so much tastier!!

Apply essential oils to glass or stainless steal container of water. Start with one drop and increase by one each day. I now splash about 6 - 10ish drops in my water bottle most days.
I love grapefruit and spearmint flavoured water without the sugar :)!!! TASTY!!

Raw is MORE

Well, today I was invited to an empowering event, about eating healthy, wholesome, mostly raw foods, being mindful also when it comes to fitness and meditating. This amazing couple are living their passion and they just have this incredible glowing energy for life and want to share it with the world.... they definitely walk the walk (just like my mentors Gary Young, Jen Gallagher and Artemis)
Kristine Matheson and her husband Wayne have both survived cancer and other illness by living as close to nature as they could, raw, organic, vegetarian, healthy and happy. She is also an author, her book 'From Cancer to Wellness- the forgotten secrets', is a must for anyone who wants to change the way they view food and feel about life.

Anyway, I have been wanting to post about these yummy treats I made about 2 weeks ago.... and finally today I feel inspired to share this deliciously simple wholesome treat with you all. It is fantastic for mums as it is quick to make (what I love the most), your kidlets can help and also contains no processed sugar, chocolate, butter or flour!


Buckwheat, sultana and cacao cinnamon oil treats (inspiration from Gem Mystic –thank you, tweaked by me!)
(You can call it **Chocolate Honey Balls** if you have a 3 or 4 year old that screws their nose up at the word buckwheat.....)

1 cup of buckwheat soaked in water over night

1&1/2 cups of sultanas

1 cup of Coconut shredded

 ½ cup Cacao

¼ cup coconut oil

2 tablespoons Maple Syrup

2/3 drops of Young Living cinnamon oil


Grab a blender

Whiz up the sultanas (you may need to add a touch of water if you have a low speed blender, if you have something like a vitamix awesome) scoop out into a bowl.

Add the drained cup of buckwheat to the sultanas, add shredded coconut, cacao, maple syrup and oil drops.

Wash your hands J


Have fun scweltching and mashing it between your fingers. Mix together, then roll into rustic bits between your palms, forming a little sweet treat…….. place on plate or in container and then in fridge for a few hours…. (Taste a few before hand of course)

Yummy sweet treats, great for adults and kids parties, delicious, nutritious and fast!!  J
WHAT IS BUCKWHEAT?
Energising and nutritious, buckwheat is available throughout the year and can be served as an alternative to rice or made into porridge.

While many people think that buckwheat is a cereal grain, it is actually a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel making it a suitable substitute for grains for people who are sensitive to wheat or other grains that contain protein gluten's. Buckwheat flowers are very fragrant and are attractive to bees that use them to produce a special, strongly flavoured, dark honey.


HISTORY?
Buckwheat is native to Northern Europe as well as Asia. From the 10th through the 13th century, it was widely cultivated in China. From there, it spread to Europe and Russia in the 14th and 15th centuries, and was introduced in the United States by the Dutch during the 17th century.
Buckwheat is widely produced in Russia and Poland, where it plays an important role in their traditional cuisines. Other countries where buckwheat is cultivated commercially include the United States, Canada, and France, the country famous for its buckwheat crepes.

What is a Raindrop Technique?

While out and about at playgrounds, parks and beaches with my gorgeous girls, I hear this question many times.... So what do you do?

Well, the quick answer (other than being a multitasking mama)
I educate, empower and change lives..............

Have you ever heard of OIL PULLING..... weird I know.


The scientist in me just had to give it a go!

I have learnt so much about the amazing health benefits of coconut oil since I started using Coconut Magic's oil. www.coconutmagic.com After trying 2 other brands I really wouldn't bother with any others, this is absolutely beautiful coconut oil. Subtle flavour, clean, crisp, fresh and pure. No overpowering, burnt coconut smell in my cooking or on my legs.....

So I have done some research on the humble coconut and came across oil pulling. As soon as I read detox and whiten your teeth I thought, yeah right that sounds ridiculous!! I'm going to do it!.

Oil pulling is an ancient form of Ayurvedic medicine which dates back thousands of years.

All you have to do is put a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around for about 15mins... I do this first thing in the morning while I'm getting my girls breaky or having a shower. Zola and Indie both look at me with a smirk and Zola asks "mummy have you got coconut oil in your mouth? Can I have some" and of course I smile and go over with a teaspoon for both of them...

Make sure you don't swallow it as the oil is supposed to draw all of the toxins out of your body up through the cheeks in your mouth, therefore cleansing the body, and allowing it to heal itself. After the 15 minutes spit it out.  As a consequence health problems of all types improve. Oil pulling can help those with asthma, allergies, chronic fatigue, diabetes, migraine headaches, PMS, and chronic skin problems.


According to Bruce Fife, the first thing that most people notice when they start oil pulling is an improvement in their oral health. Teeth become whiter, breath becomes fresher and the tongue and gums take on a healthy pink colour.


Did I feel any difference?
Amazingly.....  YES!!!......
After about 2 or 3 weeks of doing it nearly every morning I totally noticed the difference! My teeth where actually whiter, I had more energy, felt more positive and my body was detoxing (I could tell as my underarms took on a different smell)

So I challenge everyone, do give OIL PULLING a go!! Its great, its harmless and it works!

Make your own MILK!!!



Beautiful Fresh Almond Milk made by you!!!


On the weekend, I was asked to represent Young Living at a local event, in Sandgate.
Its was an absolutely LIFE Transforming event : hosted by a husband and wife team (Kristine and Wayne Matheson) who have both overcome cancer. They empower others towards living a life full of natural health, happiness and longevity. Using a plant based lifestyle, RAW foods as their medicine and incorporating fitness and meditation into their daily lives to achieve optimal health. A truly inspirational couple who have brought me one step closer to my naturally healthy and abundant lifestyle.


That is the reason I finally made my own milk...... (and I'm not talking breast milk :) ) I have been contemplating it for awhile now, sometimes we all just need a little push in the right direction.


Last year I began to stop drinking cows milk, my main reason was that I felt sluggish and not quite right after drinking it and I also started reading more and more about the dairy industry which just turned me off dairy milk altogether!


For instance did you know, according to Animals Australia that "To keep producing milk for human consumption, a dairy cow must produce a calf each year..... Calves are taken from their mothers within 12-24 hours of birth. If nature was allowed to take its course—calves would suckle from their mother for several months, even up to a year. Mother cows, like most mammals have a strong maternal bond." 


I know that I would be absolutely guttered if some random just came in and took my girls off me straight after going through all of the emotional and physical exhaustion of child birth... why do humans have the right to do this to animals? It's pretty terrible!


Did you know that: MILK depletes the CALCIUM from YOUR BONES!!!


According to Vivian Goldschmindt who has studied Nutritional Science and Biochemistry;


Many scientific studies have shown an assortment of detrimental health effects directly linked to milk consumption. And the most surprising link is that not only do we barely absorb the calcium in cow’s milk (especially if pasteurised), but to make matters worse, it actually increases calcium loss from the bones. What an irony this is!


Here’s how it happens. Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body pH which in turn triggers a biological correction. You see, calcium is an excellent acid neutraliser and the biggest storage of calcium in the body is – you guessed it… in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilised to neutralise the acidifying effect of milk. Once calcium is pulled out of the bones, it leaves the body via the urine, so that the surprising net result after this is an actual calcium deficit.   


Wow how many parents know that? We were all introduced to it by our parents, a cup of milky goodness, its known to be comforting and filling..... why, our parents taught us, they learnt from their parents and their parents and their parents....


Well, here is a great alternative that is oh so easy, healthy for kids and yummy.....
100g of almonds = 300ml of calcium


Almonds have so many amazing health benefits, they contain absolutely no cholesterol, have high levels of Vitamin E, contain magnesium, potassium, folic acid, zinc, phytochemicals, selenium, copper, biotin, riboflavin, niacin, and iron, making them a true nutritional powerhouse!

MAKE YOUR OWN ALMOND MILK!



All you need is:
1 cup of Raw Almonds (organic if possible)
Soak overnight
3 cups of filtered water
I vanilla pod
Blender
Stockings from wooleys..... cut from about the knee..... (of course you can use a proper nut bag, however I am yet to purchase one!!)

Add the one cup of soaked almonds to your blender, add the 3 cups of water, blend.



Pour blended ingredients out into stocking, I found it easier folding it over the juice container to separate the milk from the almond pulp.



Pull the almond pulp stocking out of the container and squeeze remaining milk out of stocking.




Place milk back in the blender and add the vanilla pod seeds (you can also add raw agave or maple syrup if you are a bit of a sweet tooth) and blend for a second!
I can not wait to  try cinnamon and nutmeg essential oils too!

And Voila!

This morning I made a smoothie out of mine;
Banana, Balance Complete (a daily super food & nutritive cleanse from Young Living), Maca powder and maple syrup....
Delicious!
